Yonex has announced a significant update to their Astrox 88 series, introducing the 3rd generation of Astrox 88 S/D1 This new series is designed to revolutionize doubles play, with specific models tailored for different skill levels, including the PRO, TOUR, GAME, and a beginner model, the ASTROX 88 PLAY.
The Astrox 88 S is designed for front court attacks, offering precise control and increased power. It’s 5mm longer than its predecessor, providing an expanded sweet spot. On the other hand, the Astrox 88 D is designed for powerful back court attacks. It’s 10mm longer than the previous model, focusing on enhancing power shots from the back court.
A key innovation in this series is the enhanced Rotational Generator System, which includes a Power-Assist Bumper added to the top of the frame. This extra weight improves power transfer to the shuttle. The Pro and Tour models also feature the 2G-Namd Flex Force throughout the shaft, a new graphite that provides quick flex and snapback capabilities.
The global launch of the Astrox 88 S/D series is scheduled for March 22, 2024. Matching bags will also be launched to complement the Astrox 88 S and Astrox 88 D colorway. This update represents a new dawn for doubles players, offering continuous attacks and enhanced performance.
